Sci Fi TV Production Report: Tracking the sci fi and fantasy movies and shows currently moving into development/production based on the listings from Production Weekly. Note that appearing on that list does not guarantee that the film or series will move forward.
Following are the genre entries of note included in the listings for August 13th and 20th:
Ann Droid Season 2 (BBC)

This BBC sitcom which stars Diane Morgan as a second-hand care robot proved popular in its first season, and it appears to be moving forward with a second with an appearance in last week’s Production Weekly listings. While there has not been an official renewal yet, The Sun in Britain was the first source to report this, and it appears that Season 2 is now in the works.
Ghost Rider (Disney)

It was announced at San Diego Comic Con that a new Ghost Rider film is in the works, and that is now appearing in the Production Weekly listings meaning that things are moving forward with the film. Ryan Gosling (Project Hail Mary) will be playing Johnny Blaze/Ghost Rider, with Shawn Levy (Deadpool & Wolverine) directing and Jonathan Tropper (Star Wars: Starfighter) penning the script. A release window has not been given for the new movie, but with the MCU schedule remaining quite busy, expect it to arrive no earlier than 2028.
It: Welcome to Derry Season 2 (HBO)

This series received an official renewal this week, and a entry for the second season is now appearing in the Production Weekly listings. It showed up there previously in August of last year, indicating that preproduction had begun. The showrunners already claimed to be working on the second season, with a third in the works as well, and the former could arrive around mid-2027.
Jason Returns (Horror Inc.)

It was announced at San Diego Comic Con that a new Friday the 13th film is in the works, and that appears to have a title now. The most recent Production Weekly listings have an entry for Jason Returns, and that is likely the name of the new entry in the franchise. There are no further details on it at this point, but I expect an official announcement to follow soon.
Stuart Fails to Save the Universe Season 2 (HBO Max)

This Big Bang Theory spin-off received a second season renewal last week, and work on that has now begun. Its episodes are relatively short and the second year will probably have ten like the first, so it is possible that it could have its premiere as early as mid-2027.
X-Men (Disney)

The long-in-the-works MCU reboot of the X-Men is finally moving forward and has received an official title (X-Men) with an entry for the film appearing in the latest Production Weekly listings (it previously appeared several times as “Untitled X-Men Reboot). Casting announcements have been made with Sadie Sink as Jean Grey, Kit Connor as Scott Summers/Cyclops, Christopher Abbott as Professor Charles Xavier, Samara Weaving as Emma Frost, Inde Navarrette as Anna Marie/Rogue, Maya Boyd as Ororo Munroe/Storm, Adam Driver as Nathaniel Milbury/Mr. Sinister (more casting announcements will be coming out soon). Jake Schreier (Thunderbolts*) will be directing, and this is another film that will be facing a busy MCU schedule with its release date set for May 2028.
Other genre entries from the listings for August 13th and 20th: Afterlife with Archie (Disney+), American Villain: Grodd(HBO Max), House of the Dragon Season 4 (HBO).
