Sci Fi Box Office: Weekly post tracking the performance of sci fi and fantasy movies in the theaters and on streaming.
Box Office Results
The Gore Verbinski sci fi comedy Good Luck, Have Fun, Don’t Die got off to a decent start in limited release, coming in at Number 7 at the Box Office this past weekend with $3.6 million in domestic receipts across 1610 theaters. It has pulled in $4.2 million globally so far, though it may have to rely on home video and streaming to recoup its $20 million budget. Avatar: Fire and Ash held at the Number 8 slot and added another $3.5 million to its tally, while Iron Lung slipped to Number 9 in its third with $3.3 million in receipts. Luc Besson’s Dracula took a notable drop in its second week from Number 5 to Number 10, and with $38.6 million in global receipts, it still has a way to go to turn a profit on its $52 million budget. New entry Cold Storage did not do too well with its premiere, coming in at Number 14 and pulling in less than $1 million domestically across 1,041 theaters. Horror film The Mortuary Assistant did a little better per theater with its premiere, pulling in an average of $1,246 across 208 cinemas. Below are all of the genre films from the Top 20 based on the weekend results.
