All of the Sci Fi and Fantasy Movies and TV Shows Coming to Streaming in September 2026

Streaming Sci Fi: Monthly post tracking the sci fi, fantasy, and horror movies coming to the streaming services in the current month.  Note that streaming availability can change with little to no notice.

September delivers a pretty extensive offering of genre entries ranging from recent theatrical releases to older classics to hidden gems. Among the streaming originals, there are six options (in bold below), and you can read more about those at this link. The Mandalorian and Grogu will be getting its streaming premiere on Disney+ on Wednesday with hopes that it will do better in digital viewing after falling short of expectations in the theaters. Peacock will be unlocking the Universal monster vault, releasing several of the classics from the ’30s, ’40s, and the ’50s this month including Frankenstein (1931), Dracula (1931), The Invisible Man (1933), The Wolf Man (1941), and Creature from the Black Lagoon (1954).

An interesting gem from M. Night Shyamalan–Devil–will be getting its premiere on Prime Video this month, and that lesser-known entry in his catalog is certainly worth seeking out. And in television series coming to streaming, the one and only season of the well-regarded, but short-lived Green Lantern: The Animated arrives on Tubi at the beginning of September (after previously showing up for an August premiere). And as for the other offerings from that streamer, they release way too much each month, so below I have all the new arrivals they classify as sci fi and fantasy plus a selection of others that should be of interest to genre fans. Highlights for the Month:

The Mandalorian and Grogu (2026): The evil Empire has fallen, and Imperial warlords remain scattered throughout the galaxy. As the fledgling New Republic works to protect everything the Rebellion fought for, they have enlisted the help of legendary Mandalorian bounty hunter Din Djarin (Pedro Pascal) and his young apprentice Grogu. Premieres on Disney+ September 2nd.

Frankenstein (1931): The horror classic in which an obsessed scientist (Colin Clive) assembles a living being (Boris Karloff) from parts of exhumed corpses. Premieres on Peacock September 1st.

Devil (2010): Trapped in an elevator high above Philadelphia, five people discover that the Devil is among them – and no one can escape their fate. Premieres on Prime Video September 1st.

Green Lantern: The Animated Series (2011): This animated DC series follows Hal Jordan as he patrols the far reaches of Guardian Space aboard the experimental starship Interceptor. Joined by Kilowog and a small band of allies, Hal finds himself on the front lines of a war against Atrocitus and the Red Lantern Corps while uncovering an even greater threat to the Green Lantern Corps itself. Premieres on Tubi September 1st.
