Sci Fi TV News: Mike Flanagan’s Dark Tower Is Moving Forward, No “Snyder Cut” of Stranger Things S5, and More

Sci Fi TV News: Weekly post covering the latest news and updates for sci fi and fantasy television.

Mike Flanagan has indicated that things are moving forward on his television adaptation of Stephen Kings’s The Dark Tower. In an interview with Empire Magazine he said: “It’s moving. We’ve got a lot of scripts done for it. It’s the first priority.” This is something he started on prior to his development deal with Amazon, and it may end up on a different venue, but progress is being made on the series.

Stranger Things actor Randy Haven has insisted that there is not a secret “Snyder Cut” of the fifth season of the show. Apparently, a rumor started to circulate that scenes had been cut after many fans were disappointed with the final season, and an online petition was created demanding the full release of the series. That has since garnered over 350K signatures, but it may all be for naught if there is not any substantial additional footage that was left out of the Season 5 release.

Syfy’s supernatural dramedy SurrealEstate appears to be done for now as co-star Elena Juatco has put up an Instagram post indicating that a fourth season will not happen. That show was previously cancelled after its first season, but the decision was reversed, and it came back for two more years. Whether fans can convince another venue to pick it up remains to be seen. More on that at this link.
