Starfleet Academy will be coming to an end as Paramount+ has decided not to pick up the show for a third season. That one had its debut in January of this year but did not make it into the Nielsen Streaming Rankings across its nine-week first season run. It received decent marks from critics, currently holding an 87% Fresh Rating on Rotten Tomatoes, but it only has a 51% Audience Score, in part due to review bombing by those who do not like the show’s culture politics. It had been picked up through a second season in advance, and production on that is mostly complete at this point. But there were questions on whether it would continue beyond that as the future of the Star Trek franchise is undetermined at this point. Read more about the cancellation at CancelledSciFi.com.

Coming as somewhat of a surprise, the MCU series Wonder Man will be continuing to a second season even though it was originally designated as a mini-series. Disney+ has elected to bring this one back to continue its story, and the same creative team will remain with the show as Destin Daniel Cretton will return as director and Andrew Guest will remain onboard as showrunner. In addition, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II and Ben Kingsley will be returning in the lead roles. The show made it into the Nielsen Streaming Rankings for the week of its premiere, pulling in an estimated 618 million minutes of viewing. But all episodes were released that week, and it disappeared from the chart afterwards. It did get good marks from critics and viewers, currently holding a 91% Fresh Rating and 87% Audience Score on Rotten Tomatoes, and Disney will be pushing it at awards time next year.
