All of the Sci Fi and Fantasy TV Shows and Movies Coming to Streaming in October 2026

Streaming Sci Fi: Monthly post tracking the sci fi, fantasy, and horror movies coming to the streaming services in the current month.  Note that streaming availability can change with little to no notice.

October is Trick or Treat month and that brings quite a number of horror films, as well as some sci fi entries, hitting the streaming services. New genre entries premiering this month are covered in more detail at this link, and here are the highlights from the rest of the streaming arrivals:

Hulu/Disney+

This last Spring’s indie horror hit Hokum (which stars Adam Scott) gets its streaming premiere on Hulu on October 10th, and that one should certainly fit in well with the Halloween season. As for streaming originals, VisionQuest premieres on Disney+ on October 14th, and new episodes of Freeform’s Coven Academy will stream on both services the day after broadcast starting October 2nd.

Peacock

This streamer is adding among the most movies for the month, and one that is certainly in the spirit of the season and worth a look in 1986’s reboot of The Fly from David Cronenburg. As for genre originals, the Friday the 13th prequel series Crystal Lake has its premiere on October 15th.

HBO Max

This streamer has plenty of scary films arriving in October, including several older classics like 1959’s The House on Haunted Hill which comes from B-Movie king William Castle and delivers plenty of scenary chewing moments from horror icon Vincent Price. In addition, new episodes the anime series Get Jiro will start streaming on October 4th, the day after they air on Adult Swim.

Shudder

This horror-focused streaming service has several additions for the month, and of particular interest is the Hammer classic The Horror of Frankenstein from 1970 which stars David Prowse as the monster years before he became known and the man beneath Darth Vader’s helmet. Among the original movies coming from this streamer in October are Infirmary (October 2nd premiere), V/H/S/Mixtape, (October 9th), Hallowarrior (October 16th), and The Cycle (October 23rd). More on those at this link.

Tubi

As is typical, this free streaming service is adding quite a number of movies and TV shows at the beginning of the month. Among the latter are Creepshow (which originally aired on Shudder), Stan Against Evil (which originally aired on IFC), and The Librarians (which originally aired on TNT). The movies in the list below represent a highlight of the genre entries arriving on Tubi this month.

Netflix

This streamer has its share of spooky films, along with some sci fi entries, coming in October, and there are four original series as well: the animes Ranma 1/2 Season 3 and Cyberpunk: Edgerunners Season 2, the adult animated series Haunted Hotel Season 2, and the monster mini-series Below.

Prime Video

This is yet another steamer putting out quite a lot of movies at the beginning of the month including the full James Bond catalog a well as the first four Indiana Jones films. It also has three original shows premiering this month, the mini-series Carrie from Mike Flanagan, the third season of the adult animated comedy Helluva Boss, and the Japanese language anime The Seven Knights of the Marronnier Kingdom.

Paramount +

This streamer has a few additions for the month, and The Shining sequel Doctor Sleep fits in well with the Halloween spirit. As for originals, Avatar: Seven Havens, which is the next entry in the Avatar: The Last Airbender franchise, has its premiere on October 9th.

Apple TV

I have not seen a list of movies and TV shows this streamer is adding for the month, but they do have the British series Small Prophets arriving on October 7th.

AMC+

The Canadian horror series Yaga will be streaming on this service starting on October 23rd.
