Sci Fi Box Office: They Will Kill You Enters the Top 10, Project Hail Mary Holds at Number 1, and More

Sci Fi Box Office: Weekly post tracking the performance of sci fi and fantasy movies in the theaters and on streaming.

Box Office Results

The horror film They Will Kill You had its premiere this past weekend and landed at the Number 3 slot at the Box Office with domestic receipts of just under five million dollars. With a worldwide tally of $9 million against a $20 million budget, this one appears to be off to a good start. Last week’s top film, Project Hail Mary, held at the Number 1 slot and added another $54 million in ticket sales across North America. That one has reached $322 million worldwide against a hefty budget of $200 million and certainly appears to be on track to turn a profit. The horror comedy Forbidden Fruits made it to Number 10 in limited release, pulling in $1.2 million in ticket sales. I haven’t seen budget numbers for that one, but it is likely targeting home video and streaming to turn a profit. 2001’s The Mummy Returns had a return to theaters for its 25th anniversary, and it landed at Number 13 with just under $600K in ticket sales. A continuation of that franchise with Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz returning to the lead roles is currently in the works. Below are all of the genre films from the Top 20 based on the weekend results.
