The Guild started out in 2007 when longtime genre favorite Felicia Day (Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Supernatural) decided to creat a series based on her love for massively multiplayer online role-playing games (MMORPGs). She originally wrote it as a pilot for a Big Bang Theory-style TV series that was not necessarily sci fi/fantasy, but had plenty of appeal to fans of the genre. She decided instead to produce it as a web series, and it turned into a big hit and one of the longest running entries from that format (you can read more about the series Cult-SciFi.com). The Guild wrapped up in 2013 with its sixth season, but she has been thinking about returning to the property ever since. Now she has launched a Kickstarter campaign to fund a reunion film to commemorate its 20th anniversary, and that has already surpased its original goals. There is more to unlock, though, and another three weeks left in the campaign as of this writing, so this is your chance to contribute to the return of this beloved indie property.
